El kazajo (Қазақ тілі / Qazaq tili) es una lengua túrquica kipchak y la lengua oficial de Kazajistán, con unos 13 millones de hablantes nativos repartidos por Kazajistán, China (Xinjiang), Mongolia, Uzbekistán y Rusia. Está muy emparentado con el kirguís y el karakalpako. El estándar se basa en la variedad de las regiones centrales.
El kazajo se escribe actualmente con un alfabeto cirílico de 42 letras adoptado en 1940 (con letras extra como ә, ғ, қ, ң, ө, ұ, ү, һ, і). En 2017 Kazajistán anunció un cambio gradual a un alfabeto latino, con la transición completa prevista para 2031. Los kazajos de China usan una escritura arabopersa modificada. La lengua tiene armonía vocálica plena y es aglutinante.
