El odia (ଓଡ଼ିଆ), antes llamado oriya en inglés, es una lengua indoaria oriental con unos 38 millones de hablantes, sobre todo en el estado indio de Odisha. La India rebautizó oficialmente la lengua como odia en 2011 para alinearla con el cambio de nombre del estado de Orissa a Odisha. Fue reconocida como lengua clásica de la India en 2014, uniéndose al tamil, el sánscrito, el telugu, el canarés y el malayalam.
La escritura odia es una abugida brahmica descendiente de la escritura siddham, pero sus letras adquirieron sus curvas redondeadas características porque originalmente se grababan en hojas de palma: los trazos horizontales rectos partían la hoja. La escritura tiene 11 vocales y 36 consonantes, además de un diacrítico «marcador de palabra» único, ୍. Como otras escrituras índicas, forma sílabas combinando consonantes con signos vocálicos.
